David Del Rio Fired from 'Matlock' Following Sexual Assault Allegation

David Del Rio has been fired from Matlock.

On Thursday (October 9), Variety confirmed that the 38-year-old actor was escorted off the set of the CBS legal drama led by Kathy Bates after he was accused of sexual assault.

Keep reading to find out more…The outlet reports that the series’ producers and CBS Studios took immediate action after a female cast member alleged that she was sexually assaulted by David.

Following an internal investigation by the studio, David was fired and escorted off the lot the same day the alleged assault was reported, which is said to have happened on October 2.

Filming for Matlock, which is currently on its second season, continued after David‘s firing. The show is set to go on a pre-planned hiatus next week after wrapping production of the first half of the new season. Filming is currently scheduled to resume after Thanksgiving.

On the series, David played Billy Martinez, a first-year associate at Jacobson Moore. His character is expected to be written off the show following his firing.

Season two of Matlock is set to premiere on Sunday, October 12 on CBS.
