Carlos Alcaraz Shockingly Splits From Longtime Coach Juan Carlos Ferrero Ahead of Australian Open 2026

Carlos Alcaraz and his longtime tennis coach Juan Carlos Ferrero have officially gone their separate ways, marking the end of one of the most successful partnerships in modern tennis.

The 22-year-old Spanish superstar confirmed the split in an emotional statement shared on social media, reflecting on the journey he and Juan Carlos began when Carlos was just 15.

“Thank you for making my childhood dreams come true,” Carlos wrote in a statement, translated from Spanish. “We started this journey when I was just a kid, and throughout this time you have accompanied me on an incredible journey, both on and off the court. And I have thoroughly enjoyed every step of the way with you.”

The pair reached the very top of the sport together, with Carlos becoming a six-time Grand Slam champion and world number one under Juan Carlos’s guidance.

“We have made it to the top, and I feel that if our sporting paths had to part, it should be from up there,” Carlos continued. “From the place we always worked for and always aspired to reach. You have made me grow as an athlete, but above all as a person. And something I value greatly: I have enjoyed the process. I will remember that, the journey we have taken together.”

Juan Carlos also shared his own message following the announcement, expressing gratitude and optimism for the future.

“I wish I could have continued,” he wrote. “I am convinced that good memories and good people always find a way to cross paths again.”

Carlos has not yet announced a replacement coach as he begins preparations for the Australian Open 2026, though he hinted at what lies ahead.

“I wish you the best in everything that comes your way,” Carlos added. “I am left with the peace of mind of knowing that we have given our all, that we have made everything available to each other. Thank you for everything, Juanki.”
