The U.S. Women’s Hockey Team is declining a visit to the White House to watch Donald Trump‘s State of the Union address after winning the gold medal at the 2026 Olympics.
This comes on the heels of the comment Trump made about the women’s team in a phone call to the men’s team after their gold medal match.

“We are sincerely grateful for the invitation extended to our gold medal–winning U.S. Women’s Hockey Team and deeply appreciate the recognition of their extraordinary achievement. Due to the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments following the Games, the athletes are unable to participate,” a USA Hockey spokesperson told the Today show.
“They were honored to be included and are grateful for the acknowledgment,” the spokesperson said.
Trump will speak to the American people during the State of the Union on Tuesday (February 24).
